Jodi Buckles' passion for education began at a young age while spending time in her mother's Kindergarten classrooms and later working with young children. She has a BA in Journalism, Minor in Photography from Chico State and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD from Dominican University. Jodi studied in San Sebastian, Spain while in college and enjoys bringing Spanish into the classroom. She has been teaching in the public and private sectors for almost a decade, most recently Kindergarten and First Grade at Sonoma Country Day School. While teaching at The Healdsburg School Jodi went through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program training which encourages inquiry-based, thematic teaching and hopes to encourage globally minded citizens of the world. Jodi hopes to create an environment that encourages budding scientists, creative artists and authors, inspired musicians, open-minded thinkers, mathematicians and children who display compassion, kindness, love and presence with others while maintaining a commitment to preserving our natural world. She wants all children to find their passions and believes in teaching the whole child. The Reggio Emilia style of teaching is seen in her classroom. Jodi is trained in the Lindamood-Bell auditory phoneme sequencing program and loves to use Writer's Workshop with the younger ages. She hopes to attain her Master's in Reading Curriculum soon. Jodi is the mother of three amazing children; Kolby, age 7, Cooper, age 4 and Callie Quinn, age 1 and a half. Her interests include Photography, walking, Zumba, dancing and spending time with her family. She is thrilled to have found The Village and hopes to leave a a positive imprint on the school for years to come. » read more...
