About Nancy Carter
I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education. My undergraduate work included a semester-long Wilderness Leadership Semester with Colorado Outward Bound School and an integrated thesis focused on primitive living skills for adolescent students. After graduating, I moved to California to work as a naturalist and science educator. During this time I taught over 600 California middle-school students natural history, leadership skills, and academic science courses. I accepted a job as a science teacher and resident faculty at the San Domenico School in San Anselmo, CA in 2005. Then, I became the Director of Sustainability and Service Learning. In this role I co-managed a one acre outdoor classroom and garden, supervised each student’s service learning project and created curriculum. I then obtained my California Multiple Subject teaching credential and finished my coursework for a Masters in Education from Prescott College. I decided to take a break from teaching with the birth of my daughter Baila in 2009 and am very excited to have found the Village Charter School where my goals as an educator can be further realized. » read more...
