About Our Village

The Village Charter School, founded in 1999, is a tuition-free public charter school serving children in Sonoma County. Our emphasis is on developing a small, friendly, multicultural, multi-age learning environment. Currently we serve 60 students in our Village, with three classrooms of children in grades K-8.

The Village Charter School is designed for families who want to take an active role in the education of their children. Parents participate in the classroom and in many other capacities, including governing the school. The result is a strong feeling of community among children, parents, teachers and staff.

Village Charter School is delighted to join the Windsor Unified School District. In May, 2007, the Windsor Board of Trustees approved our charter and welcomed us into their community. We look forward to maintaining a strong partnership with our authorizing school district.

If you are interested in enrollment, see our Enrollment page.

Our Mission

The Village Charter School is dedicated to providing a quality education in a positive and respectful multi-age environment where world cultures are explored, our connection to nature is honored, and character development is nurtured. Our school is a place where the intellectual, imaginative, and humanitarian promise of each student is cultivated and celebrated in a community that practices mutual respect, embraces diversity, and inspires a passion for learning .
