About Shilpa Kamat
Shilpa Kamat majored in English Literature at Carleton College (Northfield, MN)
and earned her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with a CLAD
emphasis from the New College of California (San Francisco, CA). She
is also a certified yoga teacher through Seven Centers Yoga Arts
(Sedona, AZ) and integrates the study and practice of yoga into her
curriculum. Before she came to the Village Charter School, she taught
third grade in East Oakland and middle school Peer Resources classes
in San Francisco, which involved developing peer conflict mediation
and peer tutoring programs, teaching leadership skills, and developing
service learning projects for seventh and eighth grade youth.
Shilpa's passions include poetry and literature, nature, dance, yoga,
multicultural studies, rekindling mythic imagination, developing
global awareness, and exploring the power of collective consciousness. » read more...
